At dbO Home they make things by hand, slowly, thoughtfully and in small batches. Founded in 2005 after Dana Brandwein Oates left behind nearly 20 years in the music business she left NYC to set up her studio in Litchfield County, Connecticut. Her vision was to create a collection of unique homewares for a bit of luxury every day. She believed that luxury is all about a soothing mix of tactile textures, natural materials and earthy hues created by hand. The collection is anchored with the ceramics Dana and her husband Daniel make one by one in their studio overlooking a spectacular view of the wetlands in bucolic Sharon, Connecticut.
When her husband joined Dana in collaboration the vision really started to come together. An acclaimed sculptor and toy designer, Daniel adds a distinct look to their wood and porcelain accessories, lighting as well as his bespoke furniture painstakingly crafted of highly figured woods. In a big red barn across from the ceramic studio Daniel handcrafts each wooden piece. Textiles were a natural addition to soften the range so we were thrilled to find artisans that could make their designs come to life.
dbO Home is committed to using sustainable materials, recycling their own materials as much as possible and working with local and Fair Trade artisans. The dbO Home line reflects the natural beauty of our surroundings while maintaining a bit of the urban edge of the city they called home for so long.
